Dennis Ned Pierce of Bethel, Connecticut was born to the late William Donnie and Lydia Isadora Pierce on October 17, 1942 in Hallsboro, North Carolina. “The Big Guy” as he was affectionately known, was a joyful soul who gave the gift of laughter to all those around him. Dennis was a noted storyteller often telling stories with great detail and enthusiasm. He especially loved telling stories of his childhood to his grandchildren.
On June 19, 1969, Dennis married his love and best friend, the former Joyce Hunter. Together they became a solid foundation to a family of four children: William, Kimberly, Sonja (predeceased) and Denise (Ken). Dennis and Joyce shared 49 joyous years of life together. Dennis was a proud veteran of the United States Army, a loyal friend who enjoyed time spent with his buddies golfing, fishing and hunting. He loved his family immensely providing for them through his business, Pierce Excavating for over 40 years. He was a dedicated hard worker and gifted tinkerer often found creating new inventions in his garage of the home he and Joyce built.
Dennis peacefully joined his family and Father in heaven on Saturday, March 23, 2019. He will be greatly missed and forever cherished by: his adored wife Joyce H. Pierce; children, William Pierce, Kimberly Tobe, Sonja Tobe (predeceased) and Denise Pires (Ken); his sisters, Clarkie Fuller (George), Janice Floyd, LaVonda Linder (Henry), Veronica Lewis; and his late brother Aaron Morris (Laurann), and his grandchildren, Tanysha Pierce, Myles Pires and great-grandson Damon Thornton Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dearest friends.
