Donald was born in Bronx, NY, son of the late Donaldson and Hilda Jennings. He is survived by his sister Dian Jennings Mayo of Redding Ridge, CT.
Donald Jennings was a breath of fresh air in a sometimes stale world. Born with a brain injury, he went through life mentally challenged but with a big, loving heart and a great sense of humor.
Music was a central focus for Donald and with his lyrical voice he loved to sing, especially Irish songs. He was very gregarious and got along well with his co-workers and housemates John and Ricka.
He received wonderful, loving care at his Danbury group home where he lived for 34 years. They were truly a family. Throughout Donald’s care away from home, he was most lovingly nurtured by Kevin Haney, Liz Carelli, Pat McMinn and the devoted Green Chimney’s staff. Thank you to all for your loving dedication to Donald. God’s blessings always.
In addition to his sister, he is survived by three nephews, Colin Mayo, Donaldson Mayo, Raymond Castellani and his wife Dana, and one niece, Lisa Milanese and her husband Martin. He is also survived by three great-nieces, Racquel, Shandy and Summer and one great-nephew, Quentin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury with the Rev. Michael Dunn, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Redding Ridge Cemetery, Redding Ridge, CT.
Contributions in Donald’s memory may be made to the Green Chimney's Childrens Services, 1689 Route 22, Brewster, NY 10509
