Dorothy “Dottie” Foy Asendorf, beloved wife of Edward J. Asendorf and a long-time New Fairfield resident, passed away on November 16, 2012 after a brief illness. Dorothy was born in Manhattan on August 25, 1935 and raised in Brooklyn, NY, by loving parents John and Margaret Hickey Foy, along with eight siblings. A devoted mother, wife and homemaker, Dorothy loved to furnish and decorate her home to make it cozy and pretty. Family was central to her, and she loved having them all over as often as possible. She also held a number of jobs outside the home when her children had grown. While raising their children, Dorothy teamed with Edward to save for long and activity-filled vacations to Washington, D.C., Disneyland, Gettysburg….wherever they all wanted to go. She was warm and loving; she was feisty and strong willed. She will be missed terribly.
On Nov. 19, 1955 Dorothy and Edward were married and went on to raise a family of eight children in New Fairfield. Daughters include Hope Molinaro, wife of Tony Molinaro; Debbie Jaccarino, wife of Steve Jaccarino, with daughters Jennifer, Veronica and Melissa; Dorothy Woodin, wife of Bill Woodin, with daughters Ashley and Kimberley; Kelly Harra, wife of Robert Christopher Harra, with sons Ryan and Wyatt and daughter Autumn; and Veronica Mead, with son Michael. Sons include Mark, Edward and Patrick, husband of Brenda, with sons Patrick and Sean. Dorothy was blessed with six great-grandchildren: Veronica, Keli, Jackson, Dylan, Michael and Blake. She is survived by four sisters: Anna Walsh, Bertha Herson, Joan Hindle Felix Keavenly and Helen Torricelli. Siblings Theresa Vadell, Margaret Paliotta, Katherine Driscoll and Jackie Foy predeceased her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10am at St. Edward Church, New Fairfield. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield, where her first grandchild, Rachel, also rests. Friends will be received on Monday from 4pm to 8pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
