Dzevtdet “Jerry” Hajdarovic, 63, of 6 Palmer Court, Ridgefield, CT, passed away surrounded by loved ones on September 22nd, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Keane-Hajdarovic, with whom he shared forty years of happy marriage.
Jerry was born in the village of Vladimir in the former Yugoslavia (present day Montenegro). He immigrated to the United States at the age of 12 with his family: his father, Haljit, his mother, Hajrije, and his brother Zaim.
Jerry worked as a doorman in New York City from the age of 18 until his retirement at 60. He was a favorite of his many tenants, and known for his snappy sense of style. On his lunch breaks he could be found enjoying a cigar and a walk around the city.
More than anything, Jerry enjoyed time spent with friends and family. He loved good food and threw countless summertime barbecues in his beautiful backyard in Connecticut, where he carefully maintained his many plants and vegetable garden. In the winters he hosted family weekends at the family’s house in Sunapee, NH. Jerry took hospitality very seriously, and guests always knew they would be treated to a perfect home-cooked meal (his frittatas were especially famous) and endless drinks. Jerry was committed to supporting his village in Montenegro, and his legacy includes two projects for the community: the Haljit Suleiman Bridge, named for his father, and the Hajdari Family Park.
Jerry is survived by many loved ones, including his daughter, Kaitlyn and her husband, Elic; his son, Brian and Brian’s fiancé, Emily; his wife Margaret; his brother, Zaim, and sister-in-law Catherine; his mother, Hajrije; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews, aunt and uncles. His brother in laws & sister in laws: Kathy & Joseph Gandolfo, Timmy & Eileen Keane, Joanne Keane, Francis & Antonella Keane & Ed & Eileen Hynes.
