Earle "Skip" C. Hughes

Connecticut, passed away on September 14, 2026.

Earle was born on July 14, 1930, at Danbury Hospital, the first and

only child of Earle Howard Hughes and Dorothy Hopkins Hughes, both lifelong Danbury natives.

From an early age, Earle entered military service with the United States Marine Corps and served his country in the Korean War. Earle was honorably discharged with medals for both UN Service and the National Defense Service Medal.

Upon completion of his military service, Earle returned home to

Connecticut and built his life in the Danbury area. He held a variety

of jobs and was also a business owner in the area.

On May 2, 1969, Earle married Elizabeth “Betty” Holick, beginning a

marriage and partnership that would remain an important part of his life. The two were married in Danbury, Connecticut, and raised their family there.

Earle was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth, and his

parents, Earle Howard and Dorothy Hopkins Hughes.

Earle is remembered fondly by those who knew him for his service,

perseverance, hard work, and devotion to those he loved. He is

survived by children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one

great, great grandchild who refer to him lovingly as “Poppy.”

A Graveside Service with military honors will be conducted at 10:30am on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at Kenosia Cemetery, 4 Kenosia Ave., Danbury, CT, with the Rev. Eric Silva, Pastor of St. Joseph Church, Danbury, officiating; where Earle’s service to his country will be formally remembered.

The family also wishes to extend their thanks to everyone at HavenCare at Filosa who cared for Earle and became such an important part of his life.

A very special thank you to his care team, Nazarene, Ali, Terry, Jessica, and Vanessa for the kindness, patience, compassion and dignity shown to him.
