

Edmund J. Rivard, 85, of New Fairfield, CT, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015 at Danbury Hospital. Born Feb. 6, 1930 in Wilson, CT he was the son of the late René Rivard and Rose Marie (St. Laurent) Rivard and is predeceased by 6 siblings. Edmund was the beloved husband of Joan (Catania) Rivard for 61 years, father of Jean Pisano of Milford CT, John Rivard of Lakeville, CT and Renée Keenan of New Fairfield, CT and brother Arthur Rivard and sister Anne (Rivard) DeGray.
Edmund is also survived by his 11 grandchildren Jeannette Fontano, Jackie Pisanno, Kenny Pisanno, Victoria Keenan, Ashley Keenan, Christopher Keenan Jr., Elizabeth Keenan, Matthew Keenan, William Keenan, Patrick Keenan and Catherine Keenan and 2 Great grandchildren Julianna & Jocelyn Fontano; all who will miss him dearly. In addition, "Chi-Chi" will also be missed by his numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family.
Edmund was called to serve his nation during the Korean Conflict where after training as a Military Policeman, he served with the Army of Occupation in Austria and later in the New York City Military District. After his discharge, he worked for Grey Manufacturing, Robert Martin and retired from Dellwood Dairy in Yonkers, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2015 at St. Edward the Confessor Church. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, New York. Friends will be received from 5pm-8pm on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
