Erick D. Neil of Sherman, CT passed peacefully Friday June 2, 2023 surrounded by family at Regional Hospice, Danbury, CT. He was the loving father of Piper Neil, beloved son of Gerard and Cindi Neil and wonderful brother to Scott Neil.
Erick grew up in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, Class of 1998 and graduated from the University of Minnesota.
Erick married April Carlin on January 2, 2016, in New Haven, CT. From this union his precious daughter Piper was born.
From the time Erick was little his determination showed, nothing moved fast enough, was bright enough or deterred him. His determination led him to his dream job. He started his trading career at Dain Rauscher and RBC. He would later trade for Jefferies, Incapital LLC and most recently TransMarket Group. This determination also served him well in his battle with cancer, in the end giving him more time with family than was expected.
Erick enjoyed life and valued his many lifelong friendships. His Sigma Chi brothers became family as did many of his trading associates.
Erick had a love of travel, good food, sports and time spent at the lake in which he could share time and memories with family and friends. He made this a priority for his daughter in his last year. Despite his cancer, which at times left him quite ill, he insisted on taking several trips with Piper to create lasting memories.
Erick is survived by his daughter, Piper D. Neil; parents, Gerard and Cindi Neil; brother, Scott Neil; aunts and uncles: Kent and Diane Swee, William and Patricia Neil, Virginia Neil, Ronald and Laurel Johnson, Kevin and Mary Neil, and Clement and Donna Neil; several cousins; his dog, Buffett.
He will be forever loved and missed.
The family would like thank everyone who came to know Erick at Regional Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion they showed in his final weeks.
A celebration of Erick’s life will be held from 1:00pm - 3:00pm on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Rein Osteria, 69 Pembroke Rd., Danbury, CT 06811.
