It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Evelyn F. Ryan. She was surrounded by her loving family when she succumbed to her third bravely fought battle with cancer. She was 82 years old.
Evelyn was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 7, 1940 to the late Carl and Hilde (Waizecker) Mehlin. She was predeceased by her husband, Larry and her sister Gloria Dorn. Evelyn was proud to attend Immanuel Lutheran school in Danbury and she graduated from Bethel High School in 1958. She married her high school sweetheart, Larry and began her lifelong career of a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a caretaker to many of her family members. Evelyn was a seamstress, cook, baker, handy-woman, gardener and the ultimate organizer. She was most famous for her sauerbraten and spaetzle, meatballs and chocolate chip cookies.
Evelyn is survived by her children Larry (Deanne) Ryan, Tracy (Peter) Heron and Ed (Deb) Ryan. She is also survived by her grandchildren Nick and Travis Ryan, Mitch and Mike Ryan and Lindsay and Brett Heron.
Funeral services and interment will be private.
