

Francis Dennis O’Connor “Frank”, 77, of New Fairfield, CT passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Danbury Hospital. Frank was born in Danbury to Dennis Edward and Gwendolyn (Taylor) O’Connor (both deceased). He was proud to have grown up in Danbury, attended Saint Joseph, and graduated from Danbury High School. He went on to earn a B.S. in Education from Danbury State Teachers College and an M.S. from Western Connecticut State College. He was also proud to have served four years in the United States Air Force. He was a career teacher with some years with the Newtown and Danbury Schools but most of his commitment to teaching elementary and junior high students, with a specialty in history, was with Trumbull Public Schools. Throughout his life, he was active in various organizations like the Danbury Drum Corps. He also was an avid restorer of classic and military vehicles. Along with his oldest son, they built and owned a NASCAR Modified Series Stock Car. He was very proud to have been a founding member of the New Fairfield Veterans Association, their assistance of fellow veterans in need and providing military honors at funerals. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his older son, Dennis J. O’Connor. Mr. O’Connor is survived by his daughters, Catherine E. O’Connor of Maine (husband Matthew) and Mary E. O’Connor of New Fairfield (boyfriend Kevin); his younger son, Timothy P. O’Connor of Texas (wife Laura); grandsons, Dennis E. O’Connor of Beacon Falls and Erik M. O’Connor of Southbury; granddaughter Rachel E. O’Connor of Newtown; grandson Liam F. O’Connor of Texas; granddaughter Brendolyn A. O’Connor of Texas; his sister Noreen and husband Wayne Craig of Georgia as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews and his buddy, Willie, the cat. Frank was proud to have been a career teacher, veteran, historian, racecar owner, but most of all a family man. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A wake will be held Sunday, March 3rd, from 4-7pm at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, CT. On Monday, March 4th, there will be a mass at St. Edward The Confessor Catholic Church, 21 Brush Hill Road, New Fairfield, CT, followed by a burial at Mountain View Cemetery in New Fairfield, CT with full military honors given by his friends of the NFVA.
