

Frederick “Rick” Otto, a lifelong Danbury resident, passed away Friday after an injury he sustained at home. Rick was born in Danbury to the late Frederick and Ursula (Kane) Otto. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years Anne (O’Neill) Otto.
He is survived by his daughters Sondra Cherney and Kim Stosich (Ted), and his pride and joys, his grandchildren, Colton and Corey Cherney and Travis Pedersen. He also leaves his Brother Jack (Carol) and sister Annellen Gleissner (Bill) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his nephew Lars Otto.
He was a graduate of Danbury High and UCONN, and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was an avid stock car racer at the Fairgrounds track. He opened the first laundry mat in Danbury, and was a member of the King Street Vol. Fire department and Catholic War Veterans. He loved boating and anything outdoors, and spent a lot of time in Maine with his brother. He was the founder and president of Otto Contracting Company until his semi-retirement in 1990. He served on the board of MCAC and received many awards over the years.
Friends may call at the Green funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 10 from 5-8pm. A mass will be held at St. Edwards Church in New Fairfield on Friday at 10am followed by a burial at St. Peter Cemetery on Lake Ave. in Danbury, CT.
