Born in Bridgeport, CT, George and his family moved to Danbury when George was a child. He was predeceased by his parents, Sarantos and Mary as well as his sisters, Elizabeth and Theorora Sakellares.
George attended the University of Connecticut and New York Law School, enjoying a successful career as an attorney at law in the Danbury area for over 50 years. He also served as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Danbury under Mayor Donald W. Boughton and was an organizer and initial chairman of the successful “First Night” celebrations in Danbury.
George was a long-time parishioner and supporter of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and benefactor of the Danbury Hospital. Donations to the church or hospital in his name would be greatly appreciated.
A private Graveside Service will take place at Wooster Cemetery, Danbury, CT.
