George E. Sibbitt, of Danbury, CT died Wednesday night at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Maureen J. (McInerney) Sibbitt. Born in Indianola, NE, he was a son of the late Charles and Nellie Vincent Sibbitt. Mr. Sibbitt attended Great Plain School and Danbury High School. An 18 year employee with Republic Foil, he retired in 1986 as a shipping clerk. Mr. Sibbitt was previously an assistant yard foreman with Goos Lumber in Danbury. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Alan, and four brothers. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons: Edward C. Sibbitt and his wife, Sue Ann, of Bridgewater, George M. Sibbitt of Danbury, one sister: Virginia Lais of Danbury, 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A private graveside service will be held in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Friends will be received on Sunday from 3pm to 6pm at The Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
