Gerald was born in Danbury, son of the late Clinton and Margaret (Quinn) Byers. He attended Danbury schools, served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 and worked for many years as a Postal Carrier.
There are no immediate survivors.
Graveside services will be held at St. Peter Cemetery, Veterans Section, on Friday, November 18 at 11:00 am. Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.
