Glenn Alton Badger, 91, of Danbury, CT passed peacefully from this life into the next on December 17, 2018 with his loving granddaughter Amanda by his side. Amanda had been Glenn’s caretaker for the last six months of his life.
Glenn was born in Cabot, Vermont, the son of the late Phillip and Geneva (Smith) Badger. He has one surviving sibling, his sister Jean Dunton of North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews. Glenn was predeceased by his three brothers.
Glenn was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army overseas. He was a Master Mason, a member of the AF&AM Lodge in Vermont. Glenn became the loving husband of Dorothy (Ide) Badger on June 13, 1948. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last June with their family.
Glenn’s family, his wife Dorothy, his daughters Stephanie and Kimberly, and their spouses, along with his granddaughters Amanda, Kathleen and Kelly, and their spouses and his great- grandchildren Lucas, Cecilia and Julia feel blessed to have had Glenn for their loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His love and wisdom will be a constant memory for all of them to cherish.
Glenn graduated from Lyndon State College in Vermont with a Bachelor’s degree in education. He started his teaching career in Vermont. He and Dorothy moved to Albany, New York where he received a Master’s degree at SUNY. In 1960, Glenn and Dorothy moved to Danbury, Connecticut where Glenn became a teacher for the Danbury Public School System and a life-long active NEA member. Glenn retired in 1986 from the Danbury Public School System. That same year he received the honor of “Teacher of the Year.” He loved teaching and touched many lives throughout his career.
Following his retirement, Dorothy and Glenn spent many happy years dividing their time between Connecticut and South Carolina where Glenn enjoyed his favorite sport of golfing.
Glenn was a member of Central Christian Church in Danbury. He was a man of great faith which was clearly demonstrated by how he lived his life. He held several offices and was an Elder Emeritus while a member of Central Christian Church.
The family would like to thank Hospice for their loving health care assistance during the last six months of Glenn’s life. There will be a Church memorial and graveside service in the spring. There are no calling hours.
