Harry Joseph Allison

Harry was born on December 22, 1940, in Mount Vernon, NY, the son of the late Harry B. Allison and Anna Marie (Maicki) Allison. He was a graduate of A.B. Davis High School in Mount Vernon, where he was an accomplished athlete and talented baseball pitcher.

As a young man, Harry competed at a level that gave him the opportunity to pitch against players from the Dodgers organization and drew the attention of the Philadelphia Phillies, who recruited him to pursue professional baseball. He ultimately chose not to follow that path, though throughout his life he would occasionally wonder where it might have led. Baseball remained a lifelong passion, and Harry was a devoted New York Yankees fan.

Harry met the love of his life, Ginger, in Mount Vernon. They were married in April 1967, and shared 59 years of marriage, raising five children and building a life centered around family, loyalty and a strong sense of responsibility to one another.

Harry’s drive and work ethic started early, with his first newspaper route at just 12 years old. He began his career in automotive parts sales before entering the beer and soda business, where he became a legend and was widely known and respected throughout the industry. Harry never truly retired. He loved the business, considered himself fortunate to have found work he enjoyed, and believed that when you enjoy what you do, you never really work a day in your life.

Harry and Ginger raised their family first in Elmsford and later in Briarcliff Manor, where they were residents of the Pocantico Hills community for more than 20 years. Eventually, Harry realized another longtime dream when they moved to their home on Candlewood Lake in New Fairfield.

Family was always at the center of Harry’s life. He was enormously proud of his five children and took great joy in watching the family grow through another generation and then another.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, Ginger, Harry is survived by his five children: Laura Consiglio and her husband, Bob; Harry S. Allison and his wife, Anne Marie; Maribeth Allison; John Allison; and Ashley Miller and her husband, Chas.

He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren: TJ Consiglio and his wife, Sarah; Marianna Harmon and her husband, Tripp; Brian and Raymond Consiglio; Catie, Colleen and Harry R. Allison, Jackie and Jimmy Konstanty; and Charley, Nuala, Declan and Wylie Miller; and his three great-grandchildren, Lillian Allison Consiglio, Sadie Allison Harmon and Virginia Marie Harmon. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Harry was predeceased by his sister, June Yorio.

Harry’s greatest legacy is his family and the example he set through the way he lived his life. He will be deeply missed for his strength, humor, stories, advice, determination and the unmistakable presence he brought into a room.

Friends will be received from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
