Jackie was born to John and Helen Bierbaum on November 27, 1931 and was raised in Newark, NJ. Jackie met her lifelong sweetheart Walter Mulligan while they were both in grammar school. Their childhood friendship blossomed into a lifelong romance after a chance meeting at a birthday party after Walter’s return from the Navy in 1947. They were later married in Newark, NJ in 1953 and moved to Norwalk, CT where they resided for 10 years. In 1963, Jackie and Walter purchased their first home in Brookfield where they raised a family and lived for 34 years before retiring to Port Charlotte, Florida.
As the matriarch and cornerstone of the family, Jackie devoted herself to her husband and two sons. She was a loving mother and doting grandmother who always let her friends and family know they were in her thoughts. Through cards, letters and spontaneous gifting (Jackie sure loved QVC), she never missed an opportunity to let each person know how much they meant to her. Along with her husband Walter, Jackie enjoyed traveling and spent many years camping with family and friends down the Jersey Shore. She always had a fond love of movies and enjoyed the company of her family and friends. Jackie’s laugh was infectious and she always took the opportunity to see humor in everyday life.
Jackie is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Walter Mulligan; and is survived by her cherished son Brad J. Mulligan and wife, Natalie of Saratoga Springs, NY; dear daughter JoAnne Mulligan of New Milford; and preceded in death by loving son Keary K. Mulligan; She will be missed dearly by her precious grandchildren Jennifer M. Rosvally and husband, David, of Newtown; Ryan M. and Megan L. Mulligan (Saratoga Springs), Jacqueline A. and Keegan K. Mulligan (Brookfield); and treasured great-grandchildren Tyler and Kaelyn Rosvally. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to thank the staff of Hancock Hall for their care and support during Jackie’s time of need.
