

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James Vincent Racca who departed this life on July 29, 2025 at Danbury Hospital at the age of 87. He was a resident of New Fairfield, CT for 54 years.
Jim was born on July 28,1938 in Yonkers, NY, the son of James and Julia (Gagliardi) Racca. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 64 years, Karen (Nicholls). He was the most loving, caring and amazing father to Laurie (Joe) Capichiano, Steven and Jimmy (Sheri) Racca. He adored his seven grandchildren; Noelle, Joey, Nicholas, Jenna, Jayden, Jaren, Dylan and Carter. Sadly he was predeceased by his grandson Nicholas. He was thrilled to have four great grandchildren, Natalia, Theo, Ava and Luke.
Jim grew up in Yonkers, graduating from Yonkers High School in 1957 where he was involved in several plays and singing groups. Ever the life of the party he greatly enjoyed friend and family gatherings. He worked at Ciba Geigy Pharmaceuticals in Ardsley, NY which is where he met his future wife, Karen. He was employed there for 41 years as an office services manager. He served in the Army National Guard from 1962 to 1967.
Jim was an avid music lover and was a member of several singing groups with a notable appearance at the Apollo Theater. Most prominently he was a member of Johnny Law Four, recording several records and appearing on the Ted Mac show.
He and his family moved to New Fairfield in 1971, a big change from Yonkers, NY. Jim and Karen, along with their children and grandchildren, enjoyed their yearly trips to the Jersey Shore creating many wonderful memories. Whatever his grandchildren were involved in was always important to him, making sure to attend everything from recitals to college basketball games and everything in between.
Jim was an avid gardener who enjoyed time outdoors and always made time for his daily five mile power walk. In his retirement he loved vacations in Maine and winter excursions to Siesta Key, Florida. He and Karen enjoyed attending numerous Broadway shows as well as local musical and theatrical productions.
An all around sports enthusiast, Jim was a lifelong New York Yankees fan and had a great passion for UConn basketball, especially his UConn women's team.
Jim will fondly and forever be remembered for his kindness, integrity, sense of humor and intense love for his family which brought him his greatest joy. He will be greatly missed; may he rest in eternal light and peace.
