

the age of 88 years old . He was born on September 21, 1937 in Bethel, CT. Jim grew up in Bethel, lived there, and raised his own family in Bethel until 1984. He then moved to Danbury where he built a beautiful reproduction 1786 Saltbox home on family land.
Jim graduated from the one room Plumtrees school house in Bethel then received his college degree from Danbury State Teachers College in 1958.
He worked as an engineer for SNET/AT&T for many years then after retiring, started a second job at AVIS in Danbury where he worked until his final retirement just before his 80th birthday.
Jim was an honorary lifetime member of Danbury Fish and Game Club, and a longtime member of Newtown Fish and Game club. He was also on the Bethel School Board for many years and played in bowling leagues at Sokel Lanes in Danbury.
He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Dorothy Staib and brother Walter (Leroy) Staib of Bethel CT.
Jim is survived by his beloved spouse of almost 70 years Yvonne (Barrett), son, Jim Jr. (Corinne) and daughter Pam (Paul) Danisiewicz and grandchildren Nicole (Kelsey Holewka), Cole Cibu, Erik, and Abigail Staib.
Jim was a well-traveled man taking multiple trips with his wife Yvonne, to Europe, England, Ireland, and much of the USA. In his later years, he spent weeks each year visiting Aruba with friends and family. Jim was also good fisherman and spent time fly fishing out west and took yearly fishing trips to the western mountains of Maine. Some may also remember Jim selling Christmas trees at Staib’s Tree Farm in Bethel which he did with his brother Roy for 40 plus years.
