Janis A. Hill

Janis A. Strid-Hill, 64, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013 surrounded by her family and friends. Jan was born in Dayton, Ohio and relocated, with her family to New Milford, CT where she spent most of her childhood years.

Jan was a lover of animals beginning in her youth with her horse, Chica, and carrying on through her adult life. She was a rescuer of German Shepherds right up till the time of her passing; with a great love for her two most recent rescues, Major and Rebel.

Jan loved nothing more than to curl up with a good mystery or romance novel. Family and friends were most important to Jan, especially when sharing an afternoon at a backyard picnic. Most will remember Jan for her friendly smile and quick wit which she would share with you while you sipped your morning coffee at the Mobil in New Fairfield.

Jan was predeceased by her father, William Triplett, formerly of New Milford. She is survived by her husband, Chris Hill of New Fairfield. Her mother: Doris Munson of New Milford, CT. Her children: Janis “Tootsie” Strid, John Strid and Jamie Barney and her husband, Kenny, all of New Fairfield, CT. Her grandchildren: Austin, Mikayla and Jenna, all of New Fairfield, CT. She is also survived by her brothers: Sam Munson and Bruce Munson of New Milford, CT.

A celebration of Jan’s life and legacy will take place at a sunset candlelight ceremony over Squantz Pond in New Fairfield, CT on Saturday, August 3rd at 7:30pm.
