Joan Rita Muir

She is survived by her Loving husband of 64 years John Douglas Muir. They were married in Yonkers NY and lived in New Fairfield, since 1953.

Joan is also survived by two daughters Linda Meehan & husband James of Maine and Susan Spaulding & husband Douglas of New Fairfield. She is the proud grandmother of four grandchildren who call her Nana; Elisa Beckett-Flores & husband Joshua of New Fairfield, Brian Meehan of Maine, Devin Meehan & fiancé Elmira Stankova of London England and Niles Spaulding of New Fairfield. Joan was looking forward to her first great-grandchild next month.

Joan will be greatly missed by her family and by many close friends near and far who loved her. She loved her neighborhood especially the generations of kids who grew up there, to many she was a second mom, she loved to cook and listen to all kinds of music and loved to travel with her family when she was able. To know her was to love her and she loved us all each and everyone!

Funeral services will be held at the Congregational Church of New Fairfield, on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in her honor to the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department, for all their help over the years.
