Laura JoAnn Auriana passed away peacefully at home in Bluffton, SC on August 14, 2023, surrounded by her devoted children. JoAnn was born in Dearborn, MI and raised in Queens, NY by her loving parents Hugh & Johanna McIntyre. JoAnn married Ronald Auriana, Sr., in 1964 and lived in Bronxville, NY until they moved to Bethel, CT. Although Bethel became their home for 50 years, JoAnn was a proud New Yorker and still enjoyed saying would you like a cup of “cawfee” with that strong New York accent that never faded.
Bethel is where they celebrated their lives together and raised their family. JoAnn built an accomplished career at Danbury Hospital for over 41 years. A devoted Catholic and member of St. Mary Church, she was an avid volunteer at the church and school. JoAnn was a committed and loving wife, mother, and friend. As a beloved wife of 56 years and mother of four children, JoAnn’s priority and greatest joy in life was her family. Her favorite role was grandmother to all her grandchildren and granddogs. JoAnn & Ron enjoyed traveling and took many cruises especially after retiring until she was widowed in 2020. JoAnn displayed her talent and love of knitting, sewing, fashion, cooking and entertaining for her family and friends throughout the years. She was the ultimate host and party planner.
JoAnn is survived by her four children, their spouses, and grandchildren: Ronald Auriana, Jr. & Michael Dees of Savannah, GA; Robert Auriana & family of Mason, OH; Michael & Danielle Auriana of Woodbury, CT and their two children Michael Jr. & Samantha; Karen & Brian Horn of Rocklin, CA and their three children Mariah, Brian Jr. & Matthew.
A visitation for JoAnn will be held Friday, August 25, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Danbury, Connecticut 06810. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church, 24 Dodgingtown Rd., Bethel, CT 06801.
