

He was born in Lewiston, Maine; served in the United States Navy; graduated from the University of Maine and Franklin & Marshall College; worked at Sperry Rand Corporation and Unisys as a mechanical engineer; lived in Port Washington New York, Ottawa Canada, Danbury and New Fairfield.
Jack loved history, enjoyed the beach and sailing, spending time with family and taking trips domestically and overseas. He enjoyed telling a good story and being around friends. Jack was very fond of animals, especially dogs.
Jack is survived by wife Joyce Caracciolo of New Fairfield and sister Barbara Fliss of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by son Michael Donovan and wife Deborah and grandchildren Katherine and Brian of Houston, Texas; daughter Barbara DaSilva and grandchildren Emily of Danbury and Nicholas of Deep River; daughter MaryEllen Donovan and Judi Evers of Charlestown, Massachusetts; stepdaughter Diana Fairchild and husband Rob and grandchildren Vinny and Hunter of Brookfield; stepson Douglas Monroe of Daphne, Alabama.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Jack's life on Friday, October 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Gregory the Great church in Danbury.
Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.
