John was born on February 28, 1939 in Yonkers, NY to the late Dorothy and Clifford Heffernan. He was one of two children. He was pre-deceased by his sister Joan.
He was a resident of New Fairfield for 34 years, having previously lived in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He spent a majority of his career in computer systems management, working most recently for the state of NY before his retirement. He was an avid reader, philosopher, and classic car enthusiast. He spent many years restoring classic cars, oftentimes getting all his children involved. But above all, he loved making memories with his family and was a man of faith.
He is survived by his loyal wife of 51 years, Patricia, and his five loving daughters and their spouses: Maureen Greco and her husband Ricky, of Danbury, Eileen Heffernan of Southbury, Elizabeth Schirmer and her husband Mike of Danbury, Kathleen Robards and her husband Jason of Danbury, and Carolyn Turoczi and her husband Chad of Newtown, CT. He was pre deceased by his son, Thomas. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren.
A memorial mass for John will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, Dec 29, 2018 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 149 Deer Hill Ave., Danbury.
