John "Jay" Merrick

Jay was born in Danbury, a son of the late John and Harriett Mannion Merrick. He attended St. Mary's School in Bethel and was a 1974 graduate of Immaculate High School in Danbury.

A member of Teamster's Local #677, Jay was associated with Mariano Brothers, LLC in Danbury for more than 28 years.

An avid fisherman, NY Giants fan and outdoorsman, Jay was a devoted father to his twin sons.

Survivors include his sons: Kyle Merrick and Shane Merrick, both of Bethel. His sisters: Kathy Merrick and Mary Merrick. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

A Graveside Service will be conducted Tuesday at 11am at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bethel.

Friends will be received on Monday from 5pm to 8pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
