John was born on September 20, 1960, in Manhattan, New York to Robert and Lorraine Redenz of New Fairfield, Connecticut. John grew up in Brookfield, CT and later moved to New Fairfield, CT where he spent most of his life before moving to Boca Raton, FL.
John attended New Fairfield schools, Henry Abbott Tech and graduated from New Fairfield High School. After high school, John worked with his father in their family's custom meat and delivery business, Karl Redenz & Son. When his father retired, John went on to own a Tropicana route and then worked as a delivery driver for the Mitchell Oil Company.
John had an exciting life filled with many accomplishments. He became an Eagle Scout from Troop 137. He was a member of a van club and drove his own “Father Time” van which was known well around town. He was a member of the New Fairfield Jaycee’s where he volunteered his time helping the community and others and having a great time with many memories of the good friends he established there. He was an avid water, snow skier, played many years of softball in the New Fairfield softball men’s league and was a collector of everything. He had a room in his house where he stored all the collectibles; baseball and football cards; matchbox cars and race car diecasts. He also loved boating with his friends and family on Lake Candlewood. Nothing made John happier than being on or near any type of water.
John was a presence when he walked into the room, his quick wit, snarky comments, and the ability to carry a joke, are some of the most endearing traits. He will be sadly missed by all; we wish him an everlasting life of peace and happiness watching over us each day.
John leaves behind his brother Robert and sister-in-law Gail; his two children whom he cherished and loved so much; Brittany, of St. Petersburg, FL and Cory Redenz of Danbury, CT; his niece Cassidy, nephew Robert, Grandniece Chandlar and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his loving mother Lorraine and father Robert.
Memorial services are being held at Green Funeral Home in Danbury, CT on April 20, 2024, with visiting hours from 10am-12pm followed by a committal ceremony at Mountain View Cemetery in New Fairfield, CT at 12:30pm.
A private ceremony will be held in Florida at a later date.
