

Josefa V. Slade, age 66, of Brookfield, CT died peacefully at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Saturday, September 20, 2025, after a short battle with glioblastoma. She was the cherished wife of Stuart L. Slade who passed away on December 10, 2020.
She was born on March 19,1959 in Surigao Del Sur, Philippines to her father, Bartolome M. Villaflor, Sr. and her mother, Alfonsa G. Deliezo.
Josefa is survived by her foster sister, Daisy Molina from Canada, who travelled to CT frequently to be with her upon her diagnosis in June 2025; her siblings: Alexis Deliezo Villaflor, Bartolome Deliezo Villaflor, Jr., Anita Villaflor Dicap, Lucy Villaflor Tambagahan, Jimmy Deliezo Villaflor and Celso Deliezo Villaflor, all from Surigao Del Sur, Philippines; several very close friends and coworkers from ShopRite in Brookfield, CT who often visited and kept her company during her confinement at Danbury Hospital and Yale-New Haven Hospital from June to September 2025.
Josefa attended St. Theresa College in the Philippines where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce in 1988.
She and Stuart L. Slade were married on September 14, 1995, and moved to the United States that same year.
Josefa adored her husband Stuart and had always referred to him as her “very best friend.” They lived a very happy and contented life at their home in Brookfield, CT.
They enjoyed traveling and exploring many places together. She loved collecting watches and anything special or particular in every place they visited.
She was extremely devastated when Stuart died unexpectedly on December 10, 2020. Josefa had no immediate family in the area but she was comforted by her close relationships with her colleagues at ShopRite and her Filipino friends from Brookfield.
Josefa started working at ShopRite in Brookfield in 2000. She was highly regarded by management and her coworkers for her efficiency, work ethic and her warm and kind demeanor.
Visitation will be held on Saturday September 27, 2025, at 9:00 AM at Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, 138 Candlewood Lake Rd., Brookfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 AM.
Burial will be at the convenience of her family.
