

Joseph S. Michalek, Jr., 49, of Danbury, formerly of Fairfield, beloved husband of Josephine Iorio, passed away peacefully at his home, on Sunday, August 19, 2012, with his wife and family by his side.
Joseph was born in Bridgeport, son Nellie Michalek of Southport and the late Joseph S. Michalek, Sr. He graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School and the Connecticut School of Electronics and worked as Operations Manager for Vision Engineering Corporation. One of his greatest accomplishments was competing and finishing two Iron Man events.
In addition to his wife Josephine, he is survived by his sons, Joseph M. Michalek and Christopher M. Michalek of Brookfield, his sisters; Diane Soreca (Harry) of Fairfield and Michele Poirier (Gerald) of Stratford and several nieces and nephews and many extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Wednesday morning at 11:30 a.m. Cremation will take place at the direction of the family. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family wishes to thank Dr. Kevin Becker and Monika Laurans PA.C of Yale New Haven Hospital Oncology Department and Joanne Librie and Gerard Lamoureau of Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut.
