Dear Peder and Lisa,
My prayers are with you and your families. I learned of your mother's passing (and that of your brother, Mark) as I was doing some online research, trying to track down some of the other Boy Scouts who participated in the annual summer expeditions to Wyoming-Idaho-Utah that Greg Bird organized in the early 1970s. I have kept in touch with Greg throughout the years -- went climbing in the Tetons with him while in college, and again in the 1980s, and took my family camping with him and one of his sons in Yellowstone in the 1990s, and he recently had expressed interest in touching base with some of the other Scouts from those days -- especially the four Scott boys (Peder, Mark, Brian and Randy, of course). If you recall, Peder, we were in Troop 47 together with Mr. Lee Barnum and your Uncle Harold, who took us camping every month and on 50-Miler hikes each summer. We also were in Ridgefield Junior High and Ridgefield High School together for several years (Mark and I were lab partners in ninth-grade biology). I remember your mom from visits to your house in Ridgefield (in the Mimosa subdivision, right?) and how kind she always was. I hope both of you and your families are doing well and, again, you are all in my prayers.

Lisa, Sean and the entire family: there are no words to give to ease your pain and only thoughts of the great memories should be with you. There is no question Joy raised an amazing family and she is certainly gone too soon. Prayers are with you and your family.
