

Born in Cumberland, VA on October 1, 1928 to the late Keith Foster and Leah (Arnold) Godsey, she was one of eight children. She was a graduate of Appomattox, VA High School and the Georgetown University School of Nursing.
Married to William J. O'Brien in 1952 she was the mother of six children: William John, who predeceased her (Cynthia), and is survived by Mary Katherine Vidlak (Michael) of Williamsburg, VA, Christopher Joseph (Happy) of Winnetka, IL, Suzanne Fulton (Kevin) of Pawling, NY, Kevin Patrick (Laura) of Aurora, IL, Eileen Anne Peacock (Allen) of Pound Ridge, NY; grandmother of seventeen and great grandmother of four. She was also predeceased by her grandson Griffin O'Brien.
Katherine was predeceased by her brothers: Keith, Arnold, John and Richard, and sister: MaryLee McGinley and is survived by Margery Grubb of Wheaton, MD and Leah Joan Godsey of Palmyra, VA.
Prior to moving to New Fairfield where she became an active parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor R.C. Church, she had been a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help RC Church in Ardsley, NY where she was active in the Ladies Guild, the Christian Family Movement and the Diocesan Pre Cana program as well as the many parish school activities.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Church, New Fairfield, at 10:30am on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield, CT.
The family will receive friends from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
