Kathleen P. Coppola, née McCann, of New Fairfield, Connecticut died July 8, 2019 at home surrounded by her family and close friends after a long, and courageous battle with a rare neurological illness.
Kathleen, the daughter of the late William and Mary McCann, was born on January 2, 1937 in New York City.
She worked as a teller at Connecticut National Bank, for Rodenstock USA, an exclusive eyeglass company and then lastly for Danbury Hospital. Her first and most challenging job was raising her seven children.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph S. Coppola and her firstborn son, Frank Coppola. She was also predeceased by her brothers Richard, Artie, Bill, Bobby and Terry McCann.
Kathleen is survived by her daughters Kathy and Madeline Coppola, and sons John, Joseph, Richard, and James Coppola. She is also survived by her sisters Virginia Carney, Judy Kuntz and Barbara McCann; brothers Peter, Kevin, Thomas and Dennis McCann; as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews.
She has many grandchildren who will miss her dearly including James, Colleen and Courtney, John and Joseph, Bryan, Jane and Sophia Coppola as well as Alan Simpson,Tony Schirmer, his son and Kathleen’s first great grandchild, Sebastian Schirmer.
Kathleen will always be remembered for her beautiful and contagious smile, her strong Irish will, her excellent cooking and above all for her deep love of family.
A visitation for Kathleen will be held Friday, July 12, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, CT 06810. A funeral service will occur Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Edward Church, 21 Brush Hill Rd., New Fairfield, CT.
