Ken was born in Buffalo, NY on May 30, 1939, and was a 1957 graduate of Lancaster High School. He obtained college degrees from Alfred State College and the University of Buffalo.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, receiving a Gary Owen Soldier’s Medal of Service award. He served in Korea on a peacekeeping mission following the war.
He married his beloved wife Cheryl on April 26, 1975, in West Seneca, NY.
Ken was a marketing manager for New York State Electric & Gas for 33 years, retiring in 1996. During retirement, he worked as a substitute teacher at New Fairfield Middle School, volunteered as a reading tutor at Pembroke Elementary School, and served meals for unhoused individuals in Danbury, CT.
Over the years, he was a proud member of the Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, and Toastmasters, where he won the Speaker of the Year award.
Ken is preceded in death by his father, Glenn Cummings, his mother, Verna Cummings, and his beloved dog, Maggie May.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Utech Cummings; his children, Lisa Cummings, Bill (Cherie) Cummings, sister Shirley (Frank) Stanley; grandchildren, Nicholas, Jayme, and Joseph DelVecchio, and Ben, Alex and Miyah Cummings; and his beloved dog, Daisy.
Ken was a son, brother (in-law), husband, father, and grandfather, affectionately known as “Beeba,” as well as an uncle, neighbor, and friend to many.
A man of unwavering faith, Ken's relationship with God guided him through life and was a source of strength through many health challenges.
His passions were varied and heartfelt, ranging from golfing with coworkers, friends, and family members to maintaining a fervent loyalty to the Buffalo Bills since their inception in 1960.
Ken was also a master of "dad jokes," possessing a firm handshake and a warm and friendly smile that made everyone around him feel at ease.
In his final years, he found joy and friendship at Life Baptist Church and the New Fairfield Senior Center, where he played Rumicub, shot pool, and cherished his time as a member of the traveling “Cornhole Ninjas” team.
Ken's zest for life and his cheerful spirit touched the hearts of all who knew him, forging a legacy imbued with warmth, humor, and steadfast dedication to those he loved.
