Born on May 16, 1941 to the late Marion Kelley Archer. He was predeceased by his brother Benjamin at an early age.
Larry started 3rd on the grid to brothers Charles and Benjamin.
After a normal childhood, he took on the task of working for John E. Murray and Son. After many death-defying feats of driving some of the finest rigs John had to offer and spending all of his own money and time keeping them running, he was finally able to break free. He was in was in his glory when he went to drive for his friend of many years Ed Kilian at Earthmovers, Inc. He was in total awe that a truck could actually start and stop when it was supposed to!
He enjoyed being seated behind the wheel of Truck #26, usually with the window open on the hottest day or with a taillight out because he did not want to bother his Good Buddies Bruce and Dave since they were so busy.
When not behind the wheel of his truck, he could be found at Bagelman in the wee hours or over on Triangle Street with 10 flashlights and no belt, usually ending with his pants around his knees.
“Big Den, Are we working Saturday, because my Main Man is at Albany, and I have to go” was his #1 line in the summer! If you did not know his “Main Man”, then you did not know Larry.
Brett “The Jet” Hearn, Big Guy, He pumped up and let Larry down more than a John Murray steer tire, but he truly was his #1 Fan.
Larry touched so many lives and know that you all touched his.
He was a friend to all, and He will definitely never be forgotten.
Larry is survived by his brother, Charles “Bunny” Archer. His precious niece, Christine “Nan” Archer-Ring, and her husband, Dennis Ring, who had to give him the bad news they were working Saturday and took a backseat to no one except the UCONN Husky Girls.
His nephew, Ed Archer, (who he graciously taught to only buy the best and buy two- the reason he is always broke!) and Ed’s wife, Stephannie Archer, and their children, Devin and Jillian, as well as his great niece Jenna Archer.
To Michael Archiere and family who have been in my Uncle’s life as long as we have, Thank You, for everything you have done.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 11:15am on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry’s memory may be made to either Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Suite 1100N, 4550 Montgomery Ave., Bethesda, MD 20814 (www.cff.org) or Daily Bread Food Pantry, POB 2, Danbury, CT 06813
