Leo, known to many as Kevin, was born on November 29, 1953, to Leo and Doris Barry in Norwalk, CT. He grew up in his hometown and met his future wife there after graduating from Brien McMahon High School in 1971. Later in his adult life, he earned his associate's degree from Housatonic Community College. He married Maria Camerota in May 1976. He was a grocery store manager at Shopwell, A&P, and the Food Emporium in Connecticut and Westchester County for many years before becoming a Union laborer and mason for many years.
Leo is survived by his wife of 48 years, Maria Barry, his son Daniel, and his wife Sherry Barry of Danbury and his daughter Elizabeth and her husband Anthony Cioppa of Ridgefield. His favorite title was Bepop to his five grandchildren he leaves behind: Caitlyn, DJ, Ava Barry, Thomas, and Allison Cioppa.
Leo is also survived by his brother Neil Barry of Shelton, CT, and sister Bridget Barry of Danbury, CT. Leo is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Doris and two sisters, Kathleen Camarota and Nancy Barry.
Leo was a proud man who loved his family more than anything. Throughout his life, he had many hobbies and interests, but he most enjoyed fishing, gardening, sitting in his yard watching the birds, writing, history, making homemade wine with his father-in-law as well as going to the ocean to take in the salt air, but above all else he enjoyed spending time with his family. His family and friends will forever remember his knack for storytelling and his views on the world.
A visitation for Leo will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Danbury, Connecticut 06810. A funeral service will occur Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 10:00 AM, 57 Main St, Danbury, Connecticut 06810. A committal will occur Thursday, July 11, 2024, at St. Peter Cemetery, 71 Lake Ave Extension, Danbury, CT 06810.
