

Lillian “Lil” McNamara, 92, passed peacefully on November 14th. She was the wife of the late Walter McNamara. Lillian was born on August 22, 1922 in Danbury, CT to her parents Clarence and Ethel Clapp. She graduated from Danbury High School in 1940. She married Walter McNamara in 1946. Lillian worked at Stony Hill Inn for over 40 years, until retiring in 2000.
Lillian loved traveling, bowling, playing cards and baking delicious apple pies and Christmas cookies.
Lillian is survived by her children: Robert McNamara of Newtown, CT; Thomas McNamara of Lowell, MA; Ann (and Frank) Ward of Long Beach, CA; Michael McNamara of Nashua, NH. Her grandchildren: Michael McNamara of Newtown, CT; Laura McNamara of Newtown, CT; Diane (and Kevin) Gagne of Boston, MA; Mary McNamara of Somersworth, NH; Justin Duva of Long Beach, CA; Brian Duva of Long Beach, CA. Her two great grandchildren: Jaiden McNamara of Newtown, CT; Kayla Bayles of Newtown, CT. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her brothers Richard and Robert; and daughter-in-law Catherine.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lillian McNamara’s life at a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 at 10:30am at St. Peter Church, Danbury, with the Rev. Gregg Mecca, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
