The treasured spouse of John Marquis and loving mother of Alec, 18; Andrew, 17; and Avery, 12, Linda was the daughter of Valerie Fagernes Morrison and the late Robert H. Morrison and the sister of Joann Morrison Gannon.
She is also survived by her aunts and uncles: Audrey Fagernes Robson and Lester Robson, Kenneth and Jean Fagernes, and H. Connie and Donald Jowdy; her father-in-law Marcel Marquis; her brothers-in-law James Gannon, Paul Marquis, Terry Timan, Mark Fitch, and C.J. Kersten; her sisters-in-law Michele Marquis Timan, Jeanne Marquis, and Tammy Marquis; her five cousins, and her seven nieces and nephews.
A graduate of New Fairfield High School, Linda earned her nursing degree at Western Connecticut State University. For 20 years she was an oncology nurse at Danbury Hospital who worked the night shift and wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice sleep to attend her sons’ wrestling meets or her daughter’s cheer competitions.
Linda had a dry wit, a superhuman ability to not sweat the small stuff, and an uncanny knack for knowing the words to every song ever played on the radio. She was up for anything, and bothered by nothing. She embodied selflessness and positive thinking. Even her five years of cancer treatments couldn’t turn Linda into someone who complained. Through it all, her sole focus was on having more time with her husband, children, and family. She overcame unimaginable complications and defied the odds until the very end.
Linda was happiest with a tan, a good mani-pedi, a White Russian, on a beach with her family. She and John firmly believed in living for the moment, and recently agreed this philosophy left them with no regrets.
The family will receive friends from 2pm-5pm on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 11am on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Tamarack Ave., Danbury.
