Louis S. Carrafiello, Jr., 90, of 66 Wooster Heights, Danbury, CT passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at his home in Danbury. He was the husband of the late Marilyn (Thorne) Carrafiello and loving partner of Patricia Curtice.
Lou was a 61 year resident of Danbury and was born in Bridgeport, son and only child of the late Louis S., Sr. and Josephine Grassia Carrafiello. He was a graduate of Stratford High School and went on to receive his B.A. degree from Western Connecticut State University as well as his M.A. degree from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.
Before attending Western Connecticut State University, Lou served in U.S. Army.
Lou was a musician and an educator. He taught music in the public school system of Carmel, NY and later served as the director of music for the Carmel school system. He gave private music lessons and played the baritone saxophone professionally for such bands as the Sam Donahue Orchestra, the Tommy Pastor Orchestra, the Billy May Orchestra, the Xavier Cugat Orchestra, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra as well as the Clark Eno Orchestra. In addition, Lou was an avid traveler who visited numerous countries throughout the world.
Lou is survived by his loving children and their spouses: Joann Carrafiello Costa and Paulo Costa; Gregory and Alejandra Carrafiello; and Lewis Carrafiello; and his grandchildren: Andreas, Elena, Dylan, Thales, Camila and Gregory.
Also surviving is his partner, Patricia Curtice; her daughter, Nina Noble and her husband, David; and their children: Nicholas and Jason; and her sons: Michael and Gregory Kostroff.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00am on Friday, December 22, 2023 at St. Peter’s Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends will be received from 4:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
