

M. Josephine Spaulding Starling of Danbury, CT formerly of Cape May Courthouse NJ, died November 23, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Danbury CT. She was 78 years old. Josephine was born September 23, 1933 in Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey the daughter of the late Henry E. and Hazel (Moore) Spaulding. She attended Middle Township High School, class of 1951 Douglas College receiving her BA in 1955, and graduating NYU and Lehman College with a Masters Degree in 1977. In 1956 she married Ray Starling a London Native, raised three kids living in Flushing, New York for 50 years until 2007 when she moved to Danbury, CT. She was a Physical Education and Dance teacher at John Bowne High School in Flushing, New York , She enjoyed traveling the world studying dance in other cultures as well as sports, fitness, nutrition, singing, jazz, and art and she volunteered at St Peter’s NYC Soup Kitchen.
She is survived by her daughters, Angel Starling White, Lita Starling Vita, one son Raymond Starling, three grandchildren Vincent and Angela Vita, and Ruby Jane White, also survived by two brothers H. Edward Spaulding of Fallbrook, CA, and David J. Spaulding Sr. of Cape May Courthouse, NJ also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was pre-deceased by her sister Norma Amelia Gaillard.
Friends may call at The Green Funeral Home 57 Main St. Danbury on Saturday from 2 to 5 pm where a prayer service will be held at 4 pm. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2- 4 and 7-9 pm at the Radzieta Funeral Home 9 Hand Ave. Cape May Courthouse, NJ 08210. The Family will receive friends at the First United Methodist Church, Cape May Courthouse, and NJ on Wednesday from 10 to 11am where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Cape May Courthouse NJ.
