
Manuel was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts, son of the late Antonio R. and Louisa Machado. He attended school in Bristol, Rhode Island and served in the U.S. Army, 36th Infantry Division, during World War II. He was rewarded the Bronze Star with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart for wounds received in battle in the European Theater. He worked as a foreman for the Danbury Rubber Company and as a line mechanic for the National Can Company until is retirement.
He is survived by his sister Anna Fox of Taunton, Massachusetts, his daughter Priscilla Brown of Danbury, his son Manuel Machado Jr. of Ontario, California,his stepmother, Alexandrina Machado and a step sister Emilia Costa, also survived by several nieces and nephews, 8 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, on Friday, September 28,2012,at 11 00 am burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home on September 28, 2012 from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
