Margaret W. English

Margaret “Marge” Wolovich English, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, March 12, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Edward English; her three children - Susan Mazzetti of Danville, CA, Kevin English of Placitas, NM, and Kathleen Brekke and her husband Tony of Lafayette, CA; her six grandchildren, Sarah, Peter & Jack Mazzetti and Ben, Annabelle & Lauren Brekke. She is also survived by her brother William Wolovich, niece MaryBeth and nephew Robert. Born August 31, 1942 to the late Anthony Wolovich and Mary Grozik Wolovich of Bristol, CT, Marge attended the University of Connecticut where she earned her Bachelor Science degree in History and Math. It was here she met her husband Ed, who she married shortly after graduation, and then moved to Bethel to start their life together. She taught fifth grade mathematics and later earned her Master’s Degree in Reading Education from Western Connecticut State University. Marge retired from teaching to devote her life to raising her three children and as an avid volunteer in the Bethel community. She volunteered in the Bethel elementary schools for over a decade as a reading consultant. She was an active Board member of the Bethel Visiting Nurse Association for more than 25 years, including serving four years as President. Given her passion for gardening, she joined the Bethel Garden Club as a volunteer and then President. As President, she raised the bar and expanded the beautification of Bethel while receiving many state awards. As recognition of her active volunteerism, she was asked to join the Board of Directors of the Western Connecticut Chapter of the American Red Cross, serving as Secretary for 6 years. Marge and Ed spent many wonderful years traveling the world, often with family and friends. Since retirement, they have spent the cooler months in Florida and Aruba. Her legacy lives on through the many teachings she has bestowed upon her much-loved children and grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary RC Church, 26 Dodgingtown Rd., Bethel, on Friday, March 18, at 10:30am. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury on Thursday, March 17, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to The SCOTTY Fund, P.O.
