Margaret Louise Farmer

Margaret Louise Farmer (née Maxson), lovingly known as Marney, 81, passed away on June 20, 2026, in Danbury, Connecticut. She was born on April 30, 1945, in Greenwich, Connecticut, to William and Mary Maxson.

Marney will be remembered for her kind and gentle soul, her warm smile, and the quiet compassion she shared with everyone she met. She believed in treating others with kindness and respect, leaving a lasting impression on family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues alike.

One of Marney’s greatest accomplishments was raising her two children as a devoted single mother during a time when doing so required remarkable strength, resilience, and determination. She provided a loving home, unwavering support, and an example of perseverance that continues to inspire her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with those she loved.

Throughout her life, Marney embraced a variety of interests and careers. She enjoyed an eclectic professional journey, working for Kronfeld & Young in Ridgefield, IBM in Southbury, Cartus, and NORD in Danbury. Outside of work, she found joy in running, gardening, playing tennis, sharing her love of music as a piano teacher, and caring for the dogs she cherished throughout her life. In her later years, she treasured quieter moments spent reading and, most especially, the time she shared with her beloved mother, Mary, during her final years. Their close bond was a source of great comfort and happiness to them both.

Marney was predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Maxson, and by her brothers, Tom and Bill Maxson. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Colin Farmer and Meghan Farmer, along with many extended family members and friends whose lives were enriched by her warmth and generosity.

Marney’s life was a testament to the power of kindness. Her gentle spirit, loving heart, and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed but forever remembered. Those who knew her are encouraged to honor her memory by extending the same kindness to others that she so freely gave throughout her life.

A Celebration of Life service will be announced by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marney's name to Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS) www.daws.org or to CT Regional Hospice at regionalhospicect.org.
