Margaret (Dzubak) Wichman, 89, of Newtown, wife of the late James Wichman, died peacefully at her home on Friday afternoon April 6, 2018, just two days shy of her 90th birthday.

Margaret was born in Danbury on April 8, 1928, to the late Alex and Elizabeth (Bordach) Dzubak. She was one of 14 children. Margaret graduated from Danbury High School in 1946.

Margaret enjoyed working in the food service industry. She began her career as a carhop for the Sycamore Restaurant in Bethel and later worked for Marriott Food Service at IBM in Southbury.

Margaret was an active member of Saint Rose Parish, where she sang in the choir for over 40 years. She was an avid UCONN girl’s basketball fan who would often shout “Praise The Lord” while cheering on her favorite team. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

She will be deeply missed by her four children and their spouses; Marnie Gleissner and her husband Ron of Bethel, Jim Wichman and his wife Heather of Southington, Liz Lisiewski and her husband Bill of Oxford and Jacqui Gantnier of Accord, NY, as well as her six loving grandchildren Molly, Abby and Chloe Gleissner, Cassidy and Riley Wichman and Travis Lewis.

In addition, she leaves behind her sister Irene Zurinskas, her brother Robert Dzubak, her sister-in-law Mary Zardus and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son Richard Gantnier; her four brothers: Joseph Dzubak, Edward Dzubak, Frank Dzubak and John Dzubak as well as seven sisters: Mary Bielawski, Ann Dannion, Lillian Bertalovitz, Ethel Wislon, Betty Clark, Dorothy Read and her twin sister Florence Maroto.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, CT from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of her amazing caregivers for their continuous care and support during Margaret’s final months. She will be greatly missed.
