Marilyn Zinser Moody of Danbury passed away peacefully at her home on October 19, 2018. She was born in the family home on Westville Ave., the oldest of twins on July 24, 1930 to Henry and Isabelle (Mignerey) Zinser. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, J. Theodore Moody.
She is survived by her son Joseph (Jay) and his wife Helga, her daughter Debra Fantel and her husband Kenneth, 5 grandchildren, Marissa O’Brien and her husband James of Hanover, MA, Joseph Moody III and his wife Emily of Santa Ana, CA, Carrie Lucas and her husband Anthony of Southbury, Brian Fantel and his wife Shawna of San Diego, CA and Kristen and her fiancée Tim Henderson of Danbury. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, Dylan and Katie O’Brien, McKayla and Miles Moody, Brooklyn and August Fantel and Ava Lucas. She is survived by her sister, Bette Keenan and her twin sister, Millicent Morrison and her husband John of Brookfield, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Raymond Zinser.
Marilyn graduated from Danbury High School class of 1948 where she met her future husband. She went onto graduate from the Danbury Hospital School of Nursing. Upon graduation she started working in the Danbury Hospital pediatric ward. This flourished into a 30 year career as a school nurse with the Danbury schools with the majority of the time happily spent at the King Street Elementary School.
Her nursing career enriched her life with many long lasting and dear friendships. Upon her retirement, Marilyn volunteered many hours at the Hanahoe Clinic, Dorothy Day Hospitality House and the Danbury Garden Club. She was a life long member of the First Congregational Church in Danbury. Her deep faith in God led her to support the church in many ways not only by serving on committees, but also teaching Sunday School. She enjoyed extensive traveling with Ted taking many cruises on the Queen Elizabeth II. She led an active lifestyle, swimming, hiking and cross country skiing.
Her greatest pride and joy was her family. She spent many happy summers on Candlewood Lake with her grandchildren swimming, fishing and boating. The family will be forever grateful to her dedicated caregiver, Roberta Ochran.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 1 P.M. at the First Congregational
Church, 164 Deer Hill Avenue, Danbury, CT. Interment will follow at the family plot in Wooster
