Martin F. McGowan of Danbury, formerly of Redding CT, died March 11th at Danbury Hospital at the age of 74. Beloved brother of Donald McGowan of Bedford MA and Lawrence McGowan of Woodstock CT, he was most recently predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth H. McGowan of Danbury.
Martin was a graduate of Fairfield College Preparatory School, Norwalk State Technical College, Fairfield University, and served honorably in the United States Navy. For most of his career, Martin served as Manager of the Bioengineering Department at Norwalk Hospital. Marty loved his family, his country, automobiles, and always a challenging engineering problem. If Marty counted you as a friend, he would do anything for you.
He leaves his nieces, Meredeth McGowan of Bedford MA, Erin McGowan of Acton MA, grand-niece Cassie Vlahos of Bedford and grand-nephews Miles Vlahos of Bedford and namesake Martin Campbell of Acton.
Calling hours will be at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury on Thursday March 24th from 6-8pm, followed on Friday March 25th with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Peter Church, Danbury. Interment will be at St. Peter Cemetery following the funeral mass.
