Mary J. Donohue

Born in 1923 in Rome, Italy, she came to America as a baby with her parents Frank and Frances Steinegger of Austrian heritage. Mary lived in Darien, CT where she grew up and married John F. Donohue in 1946. Together they raised three children. In 1969 the family moved to New Fairfield, CT where they lived for the remainder of their lives. John and Mary were married for 55 years until John’s death in 2002.

A devoted wife and mother, Mary loved to cook and was an excellent seamstress, making many of her clothes including her wedding dress. She loved to play bridge with her friends and worked as a real estate broker for several years. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings, especially at the holidays.

She is survived by her three children, Mary Lou, William and John, Jr. as well as her brother John and sister Dorothy. Mary was blessed with ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren who she loved dearly. She will be greatly missed.

A Graveside Service will be conducted at 1:30pm on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015 at Gerow Cemetery, New Fairfield, CT with the Rev. Nick Cirillo, Pastor of St. Edward Church, New Fairfield, officiating.
