

Mary Ann (Kenney) Kowelski, age 93, of Danbury, passed away peacefully on December 30th , 2016 at home surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was the wife of Anthony (Tony) Kowelski, who predeceased her in 1988, after 37 years of marriage. Mary was born in Lakewood, Ohio, on August 1,1923 to the late Anna (Semanik) and George Kenney. Upon the death of her parents both she and her late twin brother, George, relocated briefly to Flint, Michigan and later to Elmhurst, Pennsylvania. In 1941, both Mary and George moved to Danbury where they were reunited with their older sister, the late Anne Hoitko. All three Kenney siblings settled and remained in the Danbury area. Prior to her retirement in 1984 from Davis and Geck, Mary worked in the hat factories and later as a nursery school teacher. She loved elephants, the color green, soap operas and gambling, especially slot machines, with which she seemed to have a
particularly lucky touch. A loving sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and great-aunt she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Pietras and her husband, Henry; her beloved granddaughters, Stephanie and Genifer Pietras; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 4 th at 10 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 46 Stone St., Danbury.
