

Preceded in death are her parents, mother Hanna Atkinson Thorpe and father Bertis Thorpe. She will be remembered for her loving heart, generous spirit, and the countless lives she touched throughout her lifetime.
Mary was a woman who believed in helping others and had a heart of gold. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. If you were hungry, she would prepare a meal for you. If you needed someone to care for your children, she would gladly step in.
Her home and her heart were always open. Mary showed her love not only through her words but through her actions, making sure those around her felt loved, welcomed, and cared for.
Her kindness, warmth, and unconditional love created beautiful memories that will forever be treasured by her family and friends. She had a special way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. Her generous spirit and compassion were a true reflection of the beautiful woman she was. The love she shared and the lives she touched will continue to be her lasting legacy.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James McCullers; her loving daughter, Deborah J. McCullers; and her sister, Shirley Hill.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving daughters, Stephanie McCullers and Cheryl McCullers; her bonus daughter, Latonya Williams; and her beloved grandchildren, Cheraya McCullers, Elizabeth McCullers, Julia McCullers, Jakia McCullers, Jashaya McCullers, and James McCullers.
She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren; Juel Figueroa, Zy’eira Whitaker, Ameir Whitaker, Trevor Dyer, Messiah Whitaker, Azalea Dyer, Ariani Brimage, and Devari Forde.
Mary's love and legacy will also live on through her godchildren, Michael King and Isaiah Carpenter; several nieces and nephews; other loving family members; dear friends; and all who were blessed to know her.
The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to Lorraine Sallie, who lovingly cared for Mary for the past four years. Your love, compassion, dedication, and kindness will forever be appreciated. Thank you for being there for our mother and showing her the care and love she deserved.
Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Mary's love will continue to live on through the generations she leaves behind. Her kindness, generosity, and beautiful spirit will never be forgotten. The lessons she taught, the love she gave, and the memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Rest peacefully, Mary. Your work here on earth is done. You have touched so many lives, and your love will remain in our hearts forever. Until we meet again, you will always be loved, deeply missed, and lovingly remembered.
Friends will be received on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 10AM - 11AM at New Hope Baptist Church, 10 Dr. Aaron B. Samuels Blvd., Danbury, CT. A funeral service will begin at 11AM.
Interment will follow at Wooster Cemetery, 20 Ellsworth Ave., Danbury.
