Mathias “Mat” was born on September 20th, 1936, to Johann & Julianne Forberger in Eisdorf, Czechoslovakia. He and his family fled to Germany where he became a Master Craftsman in Cabinet Making. In 1956 the family emigrated to the United States.
Mat was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather. He continued his career as a carpenter with Local 210. He was a lifelong Member of the Arion Singing Society, a member of the Edelweiss Schuhplattlers, and a member of AARP Chapter 1847. Mat enjoyed traveling, camping with friends and family, music, playing the harmonica and dancing. He loved the outdoors, nature and wildlife.
Mat is survived by his wife Ursula of 59 years, his daughter Christine White, husband Dean, grandson Dean and wife Danielle, daughter, Monika Simonelli, Paul Furniss and Hannah. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Johann earlier this year.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 16th, 2022, at Green Funeral Home. Visitation is 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. followed by a brief service at 12:00pm.
