

Maureen Karen Elwood passed in her sleep on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Maureen was born to the late Ruth “Billie” (McAllister) and Nathan Elwood. She was especially close to her mother, who worked hard as a single mother to raise her.
Maureen attended St. Peter, Sacred Heart, and Danbury Public School(s).
Maureen’s career included long stints at Dictograph, Duracell and Primary Care, in the records division. Maureen was a true Irish child of the 4th Ward, living her entire life in the South End.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed travelling and a good restaurant with her friends and co-workers. Her primary focus was always her pets, especially Spencer and Brody whom she loved dearly.
Maureen is predeceased by Christopher C. McAllister, Mary Margaret McAllister and Patricia C. McAllister.
Maureen is survived by her first cousins; T. William McAllister, Paul E. McAllister, Jean McAllister McIntyre, John R. McAllister, Susan (McAllister) Conway, J. Brett McAllister, Mary Ellen (McAllister) Cody, Geraldine (McAllister) LaFlamme and Mallissa (McAllister) Chojnacki, as well as their 31 children. Maureen also leaves behind childhood and life-long friend Sally Barese Carroll.
A Funeral Mass for Maureen will be held Friday, December 1, 2023, at 10:30 AM, at Sacred Heart Church, 12 Cottage St., Danbury, CT. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury, CT.
The family would especially like to thank all of her medical providers for the patience and care during her final days as she struggled with dementia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter School or The Dementia Society of America.
