On March 17, 1944, Mert was born in Maine, son of the late Merton Reynolds and the late Helen Flynn Reynolds. He attended Henry Abbott Technical High School in Danbury, CT and was also part of the National Guard. He married the love of his life Kathleen T. Falis on April 30, 1971 and they had two children, Michael and Melissa, whom he loved tremendously.
Mert worked at Dan Ridge as a mechanic and co-owned Flynn Sunoco gas station with his Uncle Eddie Flynn. He retired from Raytheon in outside maintenance. Mert loved Yankees baseball, Nascar racing, and working on cars. In his younger days he loved to drag race at Dover Drag Strip. Mert was a master mechanic and could tell what was wrong with a car just by listening to it or taking the car for a spin. That was one way he showed his love for others- by being truly present in their lives. He was a very loving and caring person who would give you the shirt off his back without being asked.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Kathleen Falis Reynolds, his son Michael Reynolds and Dina Wurfbaum, daughter Melissa Reynolds, his sister Karen Chadsey, sister Janet Wetherell and brother-in-law Jim Wetherell of Maine, step-mother Simone Reynolds of Maine, his sweet dog Molly, as well as several nieces and nephews and other loved family members. He was predeceased by his son Peter Reynolds, his mother Helen Reynolds, his father Mert Reynolds, his sister, Marsha Ricard. He will be desperately missed.
