Michael owned Salt x Thyme, a private chef and catering business based in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Known lovingly as Chef Mike, he had a way of bringing together the people he loved through food. Whether he was cooking Thanksgiving dinner with his family, catering an event, or making a special occasion even more memorable for those he loved most, he showed his love through his food. And it was always delicious, especially his legendary sourdough donuts. He believed every ingredient had something special to offer and cared deeply about how they came together to create a dish. He treated each one with love, attention, and respect, the same care he showed the people in his life. Cooking was his love language, and those fortunate enough to sit at his table got to experience it firsthand.
Beyond the kitchen, Michael brought his passion and dedication to athletics. A standout multi-sport athlete at New Fairfield High School, he wrestled and played football and lacrosse. In 2008, he won a state wrestling championship and went on to place at the New England Championships. He went on to wrestle at West Virginia University and Johnson & Wales University. He later returned to New Fairfield High School as an assistant wrestling coach, sharing his experience and love of the sport with a new generation. He made a lasting, positive impact on the student-athletes and coaches he worked alongside.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia Swanhart; his brother, Nickolas D’Amico; his sister and brother-in-law, Mackenzie Swanhart and Julien Levesque; his niece and nephew, Genevieve and Nathaniel Levesque; his grandmother, Joyce Swanhart; and his loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Swanhart and his beloved cousin Thomas Ford.
